Your Pet's Surgery

Your Pets SurgeryYour pet receives safe, advanced surgical care at Broadway Veterinary Clinic. Our veterinary hospital provides complete surgical care for your pet. From routine soft-tissue procedures such as spay or neuter surgeries to orthopedic procedures, we are capable of meeting your pet's surgical needs. For complex orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries, we may refer you to a local veterinary surgical specialist.

Your Pet's Surgery

We perform surgeries Monday through Friday. You may drop off your pet the night before his or her surgery at no charge, or you may bring your pet in the morning of his or her surgery. One of our trained technicians will call you immediately following your pet's surgery to update you about your pet's condition.

There is nothing more important than your pet's safety. We perform a variety of pre-surgical tests in order to detect any abnormalities that may complicate surgery. These tests also help us develop an anesthetic protocol unique to your pet. We use an isoflurane gas anesthetic for all surgery procedures.

During surgery, your pet's vital signs are monitored using advanced surgical monitoring equipment, including a respiratory monitor, pulse oximeter, EKG, and other devices. Your pet is given a blanket, cover and pillow to keep him or her warm and comfortable during surgery. A veterinary technician is present during the procedure to monitor your pet and make sure he or she is comfortable.

Post-Surgical Care

Your pet recovers more quickly from surgery when he or she is not in pain. We administer pain medication to your pet before, during and after surgery. We may also send pain medication home with you. To pets that need them, we provide Comfy Collars. They are a great alternative to the usual rigid, plastic collars pets are given after surgery. Most pets can go home on the same day as their surgery. A veterinarian or technician provides you with discharge instructions, and we follow up with you by phone to check on your pet's condition.

Laser Surgery

Laser surgery is one of the most humane surgical techniques available. Laser surgery minimizes bleeding by cauterizing and sealing small blood vessels, reduces pain by sealing nerve endings as it passes through tissue, limits swelling because there is no physical contact between the laser and surgical area, and reduces the risk of infection. In all, a laser promotes more rapid healing after a surgical procedure as well as reduces the risks of undergoing surgery.

Broadway Veterinary Clinic doctors are well trained in the use of this very important surgical tool and believe laser surgery offers our surgical patients a number of very important benefits. Nothing is more important to us than the wellbeing of your pet and his or her fast recovery after surgery.

Cold Laser Therapy

To further reduce pain and promote healing after surgery, an injury or any other appropriate medical condition, we offer Cold Light Laser Therapy. This is a medical treatment that uses low-level lasers to stimulate the natural healing capabilities of the body’s cells. This form of laser therapy is effective at promoting healing on a cellular level as well as decreasing inflammation after surgery, injury or areas of the body affected by chronic conditions.

Broadway Veterinary Clinic is up-to-date on a wide range of procedures utilizing this form of laser therapy, which includes treatments for post-operative care, wound healing, arthritis, inflammation, edema, back injuries, and much more.
